Ru’chu

Background

Ru’chu [ɾuʧu] is the name a constructed language created in Summer 2018. It is typically used in artwork that I create.

Structure

Ru’chu, as a language, is:

  • Logographic (made up of hundreds of characters that each carry a specific meaning)
  • SVO (Subject-Verb-Object order) by default.
  • Not tonal, but does feature extended vowels (see Phonology).

Phonology

Ru’chu has the following phonetic inventory:

Consonants:

[b], [t͡ʃ], [d], [g], [h], [d͡ʒ], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [ɾ], [s], [t], [j]

Vowels:

[a], [i], [u], [aː], [iː], [uː]

(The “ː” at the end of the second set of vowels indicates extended vowel length.)
